Nine selected for Cornish clash
SALISBURY Rugby Club provided nine players for the Dorset & Wilts under 15s A and B teams that each suffered narrow defeats at the hands of Cornwall.
Chawley Soper, Charlie Jennings, Jonny Kay, Cameron Hogg, Sam Judd and Josh Green all played for the A side.
Hogg scored a try and Jennings slotted a conversion, but a storming finish by Cornwall saw them home 12-15.
Lewis Simmons, Joe Cripps, and Sam Fowler represented Salisbury in the Dorset & Wilts B side which was beaten 5-10.
Meanwhile, Salisbury under 15s visited Wimborne without any of their county players and gave a spirited performance, losing out 28-0, despite showing great tenacity.
Salisbury can count themselves unlucky not to have got on the scoreboard as they were twice held up in the act of crossing the Wimborne line.
Salisbury under 14s emerged victorious in a tough game at home to North Dorset.
The Gillingham side opened the scoring with a converted try, but skipper Tom Vaughan-Edwards pulled a score back just before half-time to narrow the gap.
Calum Lambotte pushed the city club ahead, before a splendid move involving Adam Wookey and Jacob Wise resulted in Wise crossing for a score.
North Dorset pulled back a try to set up a tense finish, but Salisbury held on for the win.
