HAMPERED by a threadbare squad, Salisbury Stingrays KS3 waterpolo team lost out in a demanding first fixture of the season.
Travelling to Dorchester with a minimum seven players didn’t help their cause.
However, the team worked hard and kept the score down at 1-0 after the first quarter.
Despite continued attempts on goal by Bobby Speirs, it was the hosts who edged into a two-goal lead.
Salisbury rallied in the final quarter, with team captain Katy Cutler pulling one back.
Speedy newcomers Joe Fenwick and Rosie Cusack put in excellent performances in search of a comeback but Salisbury conceded again, and eventually lost 3-1.
