CHAFYN Grove School’s Under-11 boys clinched the National Prep School Hockey Championship at Wellington College.
More than 32 schools from all over the country attended the finals to represent their regions.
The team made it through the morning matches and went on to beat Bishops Stortford 2-1 in the quarter final and Felsted School by the same score in the semis.
The final, against local rivals Hazelgrove, was a tense match won by team captain Oli Carr- Smith, who was named player of the tournament accolade.
It has been an excellent year for Chafyn as all four main hockey teams – girls under-11s, under-13s and boys under-11s and under-13s – qualified for the national finals.
