SARUM Stars cheerleaders were crowned champions of a prestigious tournament.

The 12 youngsters, aged between seven and 14 years old, returned from Bath University for the Legacy Cheer & Dance’s regional competition ‘Inspire Greatness’ with many trophies.

First-class routines helped them secure the first place trophy and division champions banner for their junior prep level one cheer routine and fourth and second place trophies for their stunt routines.

Head coach Emily King said: “All the coaching staff are amazingly proud of these girls and our one boy that entered, it’s not been an easy season with lots of changes, including the addition of a brand new cheerleader just 11 days prior to the competition.

"To go up against teams where all the members are the same age compared to our very vast age range, and come out champions, is a massive achievement.

"They’re all really looking forward now to nationals in June which will be held at the Copperbox arena on Olympic park.”
