A RECORD-BREAKING shot put throw of 9.6m saw City of Salisbury starlet Molly Hole soar to the top of the country's under-13 age group rankings.

Salisbury's hot property recorded a monstrous distance at the Wessex Young Athletes league on Five Rivers track.

Her best ever throw followed in the javelin. Her 30.35m ripped up the club record and moved her from 12th place to sixth in the national rankings.

Other great performances, which saw the city club finish second spot overall, came from Jacob Norcliffe who won the under-15s' 200m in 23.9sec before going on with Sam Stephenson, Harry Clarke and Josh Hole to break the 4x100m club record with 49.0sec.

Josh Hole won the shot put with 11.69m and the 200m in 24.9sec.

There were double wins for Greg Herring in the under-13 200m in 27.7sec and the 800m in 2:20.8.

Georgina Henry won both the under-17 discus with 19.24m and shot put 8.99m. Morgan Ringwood won the under-15 long jump with 4.63m and high jump with 1.48m.

In the 1500m, Salisbury duo Alex d’Arbost and Sam Coles were almost inseparable in 4:27 and 4:27.3.

Sophie Cowie was winner and Lottie Miller was third out of 44 starters in the multi-event ‘quad kids’ to round off a successful day on the track.

Seventh place went to Aaron Wilson at the New Forest 10mile where he clocked 59min 30sec. He was followed by the consistent Mike White with 70.57, Jane Whiteley 87.34, Scott Huntley 89.50, Jessica Guellich 89.50, Tracey Badham 92.36, Judy Flint 93.37 and Colin Martin 107.46.

In a testing off road half marathon near Alton, Ian Shelley was eighth with 96.21 and in the London 10k Kathryn Dreyer clocked 57.45.
