SALISBURY City Under-16s survived a second half comeback to make into the third round of the Hampshire Cup beating Wimborne Town 4-2 at Bulford.
The Young Whites tarted brightly and moved the ball around quickly creating early opportunities although Wimborne Town defended resolutely.
They opened the scoring after a fine corner from Ronan Clancy was calmly slotted home by captain Ben Moore. Doubling the lead from a Clancy header, an injury to Jacob Colligan forced Salisbury manager Richard Rendall to reshuffle the back line.
Wimborne capitalised with two goals from poor defending and a failure to clear their lines. Despite being pegged back to two-all the defending champions came back with two goals from George Higgins — his second coming from the spot after Clancy was fouled in the box.
