SOME 250 primary schoolchildren embraced a competitive spirit at a football festival.
Eight schools from across south Wiltshire battled it out at Avon Valley College as part of the The Level 2 School Games Football tournament.
The teams were split into three groups – large, small and girls – and played a round-robin format, either advancing or falling into a losers' plate.
A 2-0 shoot-out victory from Durrington Juniors over Amesbury Archer clinched the large event, Netheravon also were victorious on spot kicks, beating Woodford Valley 4-2 for the small category, and Ramsbury were the best girls on the day.
Each team has booked their place in the next stage, the Level 3 School Games final in Chippenham, which takes place on Thursday, January 21.
