SARUM Youth Under-12s jumped to second place in the top division of the Mid Wilts Youth League with a 4-0 victory over Trowbridge Athletico.
Ejay Smith opened the scoring with a well taken penalty in the first half. After some good build up play by Elliot Eyre, Ollie Brunton burst through the Trowbridge defence and rifled a shot into bottom right corner to take the score to for a 2-0 cushion.
In the second half, Ollie Phillips got on the score sheet with a perfectly timed run to the back post. Jay Devine scored the goal of the match in the dying minutes, timing his header to perfection from a Sarum corner, guiding the ball into the top left corner to put the game beyond Trowbridge.
Coach Shaun Prentice told the Journal: "The team's futsal approach is starting to pay dividends."
"The squad are enjoying their inaugural season in the Mid Wilts and are rising to the challenge."
Warriors destroy
ALDERBURY Under-13 Warriors picked up a morale-boosting 6-2 victory over Vernham Dean on Saturday to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Testway League Cup.
Josh Feltham played in a new formation as the lone striker and scored a brace. Other goals came from Andy Cutler, who opened the scoring, George Milton, Owen Batchelor and Callum Carver to end the village side's three straight defeats.
