SALISBURY Sparks Under-16s basketball team suffered double defeats in their latest clashes Solent Junior Basketball league clashes, writes Cameron Dunbar.
They went down against New Forest Vipers and then Weymouth Tropics.
In the first clash, the teenagers lost 39-33 despite a sublime half-way line three-pointer shot at the buzzer by Joe Tully.
The second game followed immediately against Weymouth, who took a 12-2 lead from the first quarter. Salisbury Sparks played well through the middle sections of the game, but Weymouth completed the win with a 15-2 score in the fourth quarter, running out 51-24 winners.
The results leaves Sparks with some decent win-loss stats of 2-2, putting them on eight points and currently in third place behind Tres Barriles Preditors (Portsmouth) and Weymouth Tropics.
The next round of games are on Saturday, January 9.
