EXCITING times lie ahead for one grassroots football club.

Founded in 1868, Fordingbridge Turks now have 20 teams from the junior section through to the men's first team, which is gunning for a place in a cup final.

The team, jointly managed by Chris Garvey and Franco Mathers, have reached the semi-final of the Page Croft Cup, having beaten Poole Borough Reserves, Milford and Portcastrian.

In the latter game, the Turks, who play in Bournemouth Hayward Division 3, came back from 2-0 down against higher division Portcastrian to win 3-2.

They will face either Allendale Reserves or Westover Bournemouth in the last four.

"There is a real buzz around the place and a feeling of positivity and growth," said Mathers.

"New sponsors have come in the form of first team sponsors Elite Care of Salisbury and now Your Recruitment Group have kindly offered to fund club tracksuits as we aim for the ‘next level’.

"With a flourishing youth system and some particularly promising under 16s, managed by John Robertson, and the under 18s, managed by Gavin Quantick, the future is looking bright for the senior section.

"And with a dedicated committee, chaired by club legend Mike Penton, an army of fantastic volunteers, supportive parents and local sponsors, the club is an exciting place to be at."
