TEN gymnasts from Harnham Gym Club lined up against elite performers in a county-wide competition.

The budding youngsters took to the equipment im the Bi-annual County Grades Competition, which was held at the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics in Melksham last month.

They split five gymnasts into two sections. In grade three was Daisy Badger, Elizabeth Hocking, Isabella Ward, Isabella Ridler and Grace Reeve.

And in grade four was Amy Scrivens, Evie Burrough, Sophie Cosway, Neve Melodey and Martha Waters.

Secretary Arthur Millie hailed the group's efforts.

"For most of our gymnasts this was their first county grades competition and it cannot be easy to be asked to perform for the first time in a purpose built gym on superb equipment as well as having to compete against gymnasts from other Wiltshire clubs where their gymnasts can practise every day," he said.

"However, all the coaches felt that our gymnasts gave excellent performances and we are very proud of them. They showed the rest of Wiltshire that Harnham Gym Club can compete with the best."

The next county competition is on Sunday, November 20 at West Wilts Gym, Trowbridge.
