A NEW gym has been unveiled by a cheerleading team in Salisbury.
Phoenix Stars Cheerleaders have opened a gym, specifically for cheerleading and tumbling, at Castle Gate Business Park, Old Sarum.
They offer classes in cheerleading (both competitive and sideline), tumbling, fitness and street dance.
Team manager Jane Usher said: βIt is wonderful to have our own facility, which means we can provide more classes for many more young people.
"Cheerleading is a great way to meet new friends and build self-confidence. "Our tumbling classes enable athletes to gain a sense of achievement when they gain a new skill."
The club is hosting a 12-hour tumble marathon on Sunday in a bid to raise funds to take a team to the World Championships in Florida in 2020.
Head coach Elly Humphries said:β We have been fundraising for a year already and anticipate having to fundraise right up until the time we go in 2020.
"It is a very expensive competition to attend but we are training hard and determined to get there."
Anyone wishing to sponsor the club should email phoenixstars@live.co.uk.
