SALISBURY Sparks Under-14s lead the way at the top of the Southern Junior Basketball League after romping to a 57-24 victory over Invictus South at the weekend.

The strong-looking Sparks jumped into a 16-2 lead inside the first six minutes of the game, and never looked back.

They went on to net a further 24 unanswered points in the second and third quarters for a 38-point advantage.

A good final quarter from Invictus was encouraging but it was Salisbury who steered clear.

The Salisbury teenagers also cashed in on some league points when their match with Portsmouth was postponed as the visitors didn't turn up.

Instead, they took on Winchester Royals in a friendly, which they won 36-20.
