Dana Delany says she regrets revealing that she turned down the role of Carrie in Sex And The City.
The actress, 56, has appeared in the likes of China Beach and Desperate Housewives in recent years and is now starring in Channel 5 hit, Body Of Proof.
Asked about Sex And The City, she said: "There's been a lot made about that. I'm sort of sorry I said it. There wasn't even a script yet at that point, it was such an early stage.
"Darren Starr, who created it, was a friend of mine and he asked me if I'd want to do it. It was just timing.
"I had just done a bunch of movies about sex, and I said to him, 'I cannot do anything about sex again'."
Dana said she was delighted that the roles just keep on coming as she gets older.
"I never thought that at my age I would be the lead in a series," she said. "I remember when I was in my late thirties, an older actress saying to me, 'I'm warning you. When I turned 40, the scripts just stopped coming', and I remember thinking, 'I hope that doesn't happen to me'.
"And, you know, it hasn't. I've kept working, which is really wonderful."
:: Body Of Proof can be seen on Channel 5 on Tuesdays at 9pm
