Downton Abbey and EastEnders clash in Christmas Day's TV schedules
High Society is pitched against the East End in a Christmas Day scheduling clash that sees viewers forced to choose between Downton Abbey and Albert Square.
The EastEnders special runs for an hour from 8.45pm - the same time the two-hour Downton starts over on ITV1.
The second hour of the show clashes with BBC One's Royle Family Christmas special.
Another clash sees an hour-long Coronation Street start at 7.30pm, putting it up against one of the BBC's biggest hitters Call The Midwife.
Last year, EastEnders triumphed in the head-to-head battle with Downton Abbey as BBC One kept with tradition by coming out on top in the Christmas Day ratings.
Viewing figures showed Walford proved a bigger draw than the Crawley family's estate, with an average audience of 9.9 million compared with the ITV1 show's 8.1 million (8.6 million including ITV1+1 viewers).
