Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse has been put on hold
Steven Spielberg has decided to indefinitely postpone his sci-fi drama Robopocalypse.
Production on the post-apocalyptic movie was due to begin in the spring for a 2014 release, but the Lincoln director has put the brakes on because he doesn't feel the film is ready.
Spielberg's spokesman Marvin Levy told The Hollywood Reporter: "The project was too important and the script is not ready, and it's too expensive to produce. It's back to the drawing board to see what is possible."
Chris Hemsworth had been set to star in Robopocalypse alongside Anne Hathaway and Ben Whishaw.
Written by The Cabin In The Woods' Drew Goddard, the big-screen adaptation of Daniel H Wilson's book about the war between humans and robots had been scheduled for a 2013 release before being pushed back to 2014. No new release date has been announced.
Spielberg will reportedly continue to develop the project.
