Take That star Jason Orange will make a guest appearance in the final series of Shameless.

The singer plays a DJ called Scouse Mouse who runs a music festival on the fictional Chatsworth Estate in the Channel 4 show.

Jason, a fan of the show, filmed his part this week then hung around for a tour of the set and popped into the Jockey - layabout Frank Gallagher's local in the show.

A show insider said the star was "nervous" but was a big hit with the rest of the cast.

The final series of the show, created by Paul Abbott, also sees the return of former stars including Anne-Marie Duff, who played Fiona Gallagher.

The actress, who left the programme eight years ago during the second series, is joined by Jody Latham and Elliott Tittensor, who will also make reappearances for the finale.

The 11th series is due to be screened in the spring.

The show's creator, Paul Abbott, announced in October he was ending the long-running series.

After leaving Shameless, Anne-Marie - who is married to her former Shameless co-star James McAvoy - went on to star in dramas such as BBC One's The Virgin Queen and last year's BBC Two series Parade's End. She was nominated for a best supporting actress Bafta for her role in 2009's Nowhere Boy and appeared on stage in Cause Celebre at the Old Vic in 2011.
