Turner: DOI came at the right time
Anthea Turner has said Dancing On Ice came at just the right time in her life.
The presenter - the latest celebrity to be booted off the show - said the opportunity arose at a point where she really needed something to throw herself into.
She said on ITV's This Morning: "I wanted to do it for myself, I've always wanted to know how to skate and I haven't danced since I was 16, and I love dancing in my kitchen and I've got to be honest, it came at the right time in my life.
"I just needed something to focus on."
Anthea said she was feeling "a mix of emotion" following her exit. "You know you're going to miss everybody, and you've been doing this - I've lived Dancing On Ice since the end of October - and I woke up this morning thinking 'Oooooh...'" she said.
Commenting on getting tearful on Sunday night's show, she said: "It's like a little family, and I think that's what I'll miss. And you always think, 'Maybe I could've done just a little bit more'."
Her partner on the show, pro skater Andy Buchanan said: "I think Anthea had more tricks up her sleeve. More than she knows!"
Anthea donned a dress worn by former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, the first star to be eliminated from the competition, during the show - and joked that she didn't fill it out quite as well as the curvy Canadian.
"It's such a pretty dress, and I was in it - not quite as up as her I don't think, but I was in it - she did fill it out a little more than I did, there's quite a bit of give in that costume!"
Anthea was voted off after failing to wow with her routine to Donny Osmond's Puppy Love, putting her in the skate-off against Keith Chegwin. She then took to the ice to dance to Michael Buble's version of Feeling Good, but Keith won more votes from the judges on the ITV1 show.
