Jeremy Irons stars in two new films this year
Jeremy Irons has revealed that playing a new part is like falling in love.
The Oscar-winning actor, who stars in two new movies this year, Beautiful Creatures and A Night Train To Lisbon, admitted feeling more cynical about the film business.
But the 64-year-old still has a passion for his roles, saying: "The most fascinating thing about falling in love with somebody is getting to know them and learning their secrets and that's the most wonderful journey.
"I kind of think of that in a little way with the characters I play. With each scene you want to find out something more."
The Brideshead Revisited and Reversal Of Fortune actor, 64, said of the current status of film-making: "I think things have changed and that's why I'm doing television now, because there's less of the kind of work I used to do around.
"A Night Train To Lisbon is an example of the kind of film I might have made 12 years ago, but there aren't many of those about."
:: Beautiful Creatures is released on Wednesday, February 13
