The long-list for this year's Scottish Album of the Year Award has been announced.

The 20 albums earmarked for critique by a panel of industry judges include Admiral Fallow's Tree Bursts In Snow, Our Version Of Events by Emeli Sande and Calvin Harris's 18 Months.

The competition is open to Scottish bands and artists who released albums in 2012, with the winner collecting a £20,000 prize.

Last year's victors were Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat, for their record Everything's Getting Older.

The Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) said the 2013 list represents "a dazzling range of genres and musical styles".

A public vote will take place on May 27 and the most popular album will be given an automatic spot on the shortlist of 10.

The winner will be crowned at a ceremony at the Barrowlands in Glasgow on June 20.
