Alec Baldwin wants to quit acting?
Alec Baldwin has declared that he would "love" to quit acting.
The 30 Rock star told Vanity Fair that he would happily switch careers if there was something else he could do instead.
Asked whether he might stop acting, he admitted: "I'd love to if I could, yeah. That would be the greatest thing in the world."
Alec went on: "I would love to. If I could find something else to do."
The actor recently apologised to a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights group for a series of tweets that could have been interpreted as homophobic. The star's messages were directed at a newspaper reporter who accused his wife of tweeting during the funeral for actor James Gandolfini. However, Alec said in a letter to GLAAD that his tweets did not have anything to do with "issues of anyone's sexual orientation".
The star closed his Twitter account in the wake of the controversy and has now insisted that his social media days are behind him.
Asked if he might re-open his account, Alec said: "Never. No. I went to Jimmy Gandolfini's funeral, and when I was there I realised Jimmy Gandolfini didn't have Twitter. Jimmy Gandolfini was so beloved as a person, and he was so admired as an actor, and he didn't give a f*** about social media.
"I really learned a lesson at the funeral. I said to myself, This is all a waste of time. Meaning it's fun sometimes, but less and less, and less. It's just another chink in your armour for people to come and kill you. I stopped and said to myself, I'm going to try where I just don't do this any more."
Alec's wife Hilaria is expecting their baby and the star confessed he would like his child not to know him as a famous person.
The actor, who also has a teenage daughter from his previously relationship with Kim Basinger, revealed: "I have one dream in my life and that is that this daughter I'm having - she comes to me about seven or eight years from now, she has a friend, and she's at her house and she says, 'Daddy, Susie's mom says you used to be on TV. Daddy, is that true?' She has no knowledge of me as a public person. That would be heaven for me."
