Salisbury Journal: Nicola Roberts says she isn't scared of going solo Nicola Roberts says she isn't scared of going solo

Nicola Roberts has said she is unfazed by the prospect of going solo after Girls Aloud's split because the group have always been happy doing their own thing.

The former member of the girl band said she felt fine about forging ahead with her solo career away from Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding.

She said: "Just because you're in a group, doesn't mean you don't have your own interests.

"You might work with 20 other people and just because you work together every day, it doesn't mean you don't all listen to different music or go to different bars. That's just the way it is."

Asked whether it was a shock when she first didn't have the rest of the band there, she said: "Not really because we had a break in between, and I was 23 when we went on our first little break - that's young.

"I'd already done seven years in the group so when we came back again, it wasn't too unfamiliar."
