Pattinson: Young fame is terrifying
Robert Pattinson has revealed that the teenage brat in his new film, Maps To The Stars, hit a little too close to home.
The Twilight star, who has reunited with David Cronenberg for his new film, which is a study on young Hollywood, referred to the character of Benjie Weiss (Evan Bird), a teenage sensation trying to get his career back on track after a stint in rehab.
"I think Benjie is probably the truest character. I've met a lot of kids like him. The scene with him and the little girls b****ing about everybody - you just see that a lot," he told Vanity Fair.
"When you see these kids, there is only one way: you either get in therapy now or become a serial killer, or kill yourself. I mean, you can see it really early on - it's terrifying," he added.
Robert, who appeared as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire before starring as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, said his hiatus between the two projects allowed him to have a breather.
"I did Harry Potter when I was like 17, and nothing really happened after that. I mean, I made loads of money compared to anyone my age - it was incredible. But I mean, then I just did little TV things afterwards," the 28-year-old continued.
"But I got to live from 18 to 21, you get your own apartment and basically I didn't star in Twilight until 21. It's different because you're still young, but you've had a life beforehand. Whereas if you are 10, it's a totally different thing."
Robert, who has been at the Cannes Film Festival, also revealed Justin Bieber is "all right", saying: "I've met him before on his party bus. He's all right."
