There may be early Oscar buzz surrounding Brenda Blethyn's latest role, but the British actress is having none of it.
"Oh no, no," she responded when asked if she is clearing a space on the mantelpiece for the coveted gong for best actress.
The 63-year-old actress has received great praise from critics, with speculation that she may be in the running for her performance in London River.
In the movie Brenda plays the role of a woman searching for her daughter in the aftermath the July 7 bombings, sharing the journey with a Muslim man in a similar predicament.
Co-star Sotigui Kouyate won the Silver Bear Award for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival.
But focus is increasingly turning to Brenda who received an Oscar nod in 1996 for the Mike Leigh film Secrets and Lies.
So does she expect to have to prepare a speech come the award season?
"Oh no, no," she said, adding: "I am so proud of the film, I really am."
