Forest Whitaker, Ringo Starr and Yoko Ono have pledged their support for Hard Rock's Imagine There's No Hunger campaign.
The trio launched the worldwide drive to prevent hunger and poverty, inspired by John Lennon's hit Imagine, at a star-studded party at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood in Los Angeles on November 6.
"This is a beautiful step towards world peace - by imagining there's no hunger, like what John sang in his song, we express our strong desire to bring a world in which children will never again suffer from hunger or poverty," said Yoko.
"John would have loved the fact that so many illustrious and good meaning partners and organisations have stood up to make this effort together."
Ringo revealed he was persuaded to join the effort by Yoko, after being shocked by statistics such as 16,000 children dying every day from hunger-related causes.
"You get so many invites every day to do stuff. When I read the statistics of this, it just blew me away. So I thought, why not? How hard is it to do something?" he told USA Today.
Forest added: "People have the opportunity to make an impact with their donations and their deeds, and you get a great feeling of fulfillment. It nourishes your heart."
The charity campaign includes merchandise such as Serve4, a limited edition digital album featuring tracks from John Lennon, Elvis Costello and Starsailor, bracelet and badge, which are all available now from www.hardrock.com. All proceeds go to World Hunger Year.
