Jennifer Hudson was among the celebrity performers at US President Barack Obama's first state dinner.

The Oscar-winning Dreamgirls star took part in the after-dinner entertainment at the event at the White House.

AR Rahman, who won two Academy Awards for the music in hit film Slumdog Millionaire, and jazz vocalist and composer Kurt Elling were also among the line-up.

More than 300 people attended the celebration - held in honour of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh - including Hollywood moguls David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg, actors Alfre Woodard and Blair Underwood and The Sixth Sense director M Night Shyamalan.
