Kelly Jones is backing the internet campaign to make Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name the Christmas No 1.
The Stereophonics star revealed he was in favour of the campaign, which has over 500,000 supporters on Facebook, that is trying to stop The X Factor winner Joe McElderry getting to the top of the charts.
Kelly said: "I'm all for it - I think, you know, X Factor is a television show which is great, it's entertaining, you can't take it away from it, it's done really well and it's a big focus point for the nation every Saturday night, it is what it is, but on the other hand, there you've got music - so I think it's two different things."
He added: "To me music is about people writing songs, creating music and being an artist and having longevity, not just a quick fix and a bit of fame, so I just think it's a different thing really."
The Stereophonics busked in London's Covent Garden at the weekend to raise money for homeless charity Shelter.
Kelly joked: "We have done a bit of busking before but we picked the wrong night, we had about 39 pence so we're hoping to raise a bit more money today."
