Paul Daniels blogs about burglary

Paul Daniels was taken unawares when a burglar broke into his house while he was watching television, it has emerged.

The 71-year-old was sitting in the living room of his Berkshire home when a thief apparently climbed in through an upstairs window.

The TV entertainer, who did not lose anything of significant value, said the incident was "more of a nuisance than anything else".

The burglary is believed to have taken place on November 23 while the magician's wife, Debbie McGee, attended an awards ceremony.

Writing on his blog on December 6, he said: "When last I wrote I said we had the police round. What happened is that whilst I was sitting in the lounge, someone climbed up onto the balcony and got in through a window/door up there. They stole a couple of cases and some jewellery.

"Fortunately for us Debbie isn't really a jewellery person so, other than the memories of who gave her bits and bobs, it was no great loss."

On his latest blog, he added: "The burglary was much more of a nuisance than anything else and now we have to have all the security system upgraded and extended to placate the insurance company. Annoying."

Police are looking into the incident.

Adam Fisher, a spokesman for the Thames Valley force, said: "Thames Valley Police is currently investigating a burglary that took place at a property on Willow Lane, in Wargrave on November 23.

"The victim has asked that no further information is disclosed."
