Gosling to make directorial debut
12:34pm Thursday 30th August 2012 in National Entertainment News © Press Association 2013
Ryan Gosling has written the film script and will produce
Ryan Gosling is to step behind the camera for the first time for "modern-day fairytale" How To Catch A Monster.
The Crazy, Stupid, Love star will produce the story through his Phantasma Films company and has written the script, which will see his Drive co-star Christina Hendricks in the lead role, reported Collider.com.
The Mad Men actress would play a single mother-of-two, who is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy world in the surreal thriller.
Ryan said: "I am very appreciative to Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Bold Films for being so supportive and I look forward to making this film with all of them."
Drive producer Marc added: "We are thrilled to be producing Ryan Gosling's debut as a writer and director and continue our collaboration which began on Drive.
"He has composed a beautifully haunting script and has a very clear vision of how he will bring it to life. His ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will serve him well as a filmmaker."
Ryan - who is set to attend the Toronto International Film Festival to promote The Place Beyond The Pines - has wrapped thriller Only God Forgives, which reunited him with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, and has been working on the remake of Logan's Run with the Danish filmmaker.
He is also starring in an as-yet-untitled music-focused project from director Terrence Malick.
Production on How To Catch A Monster is scheduled to begin in spring 2013.
