Peaches Geldof celebrated her wedding at dad Bob Geldof's home
Peaches Geldof believes her late mother Paula Yates was watching over her as she tied the knot with indie musician Thomas Cohen at the weekend.
The couple held their wedding in the same spot where her mother's marriage and funeral took place, at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence Church in Davington, Kent. Paula died in 2000 following a drug overdose.
In an interview with Hello! magazine, which covered Saturday's wedding, Peaches said: "I feel her presence all the time but especially today. Mum loved family celebrations and she would adore Tom and the fact that we've married here. I know that she is watching over me and feeling so happy for us."
Wearing a custom-made Alberta Ferretti gown, the new bride posed for a photo for the magazine along with Cohen, the couple's five-month-old son Astala and her proud father, the musician and campaigner Bob Geldof. The seven bridesmaids included Peaches's sisters Fifi, 29, Pixie, 21 and Tiger, 16.
She and Tom - from the band Scum - celebrated their marriage at Bob's country home, Davington Priory, with the event fulfilling Peaches' vision of "a country wedding meets Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream". The ceremony was full of quirky details, with the bride and groom's eight-month-old golden retriever puppy Parper as ring bearer and the cake featuring edible pigs.
Peaches, 23, said: "I'm obsessed with pigs. I just think they're adorable so they had to play a part in the wedding."
Bob said it was a "relief" to see his daughter married.
"It's a beautiful day, in all senses of the word. I am happy for them. I love seeing people in love," he said.
Peaches said: "I've married the most wonderful man who I know loves me beyond anything, through all my faults."
