Ethan Hawke has revealed he enjoyed his first turn in a horror movie so much that he's already made another one.

Hawke, who stars as a crime novelist who discovers disturbing home movies in Sinister, recently completed another scary flick, reportedly due to be released next year.

"That's more kind of a sci-fi movie, it's called The Purge," he said at Sinister's Los Angeles premiere.

The 41-year-old, better known for dramatic and indie roles, said he'd been surprised by how much fun filming a horror movie could be.

"I've always heard that if you hang out with those comedians on those funny sets they're all really depressed.

"The nice thing about scary movies is it's really funny, you laugh a lot, it's kind of like a Halloween party."
