Hannah Tointon has confessed she is just as disorganised in real life as her latest character.

The former Hollyoaks actress stars in new show Switch, about a coven of four young witches who live together in Camden, as flighty Hannah, who loves travelling and struggles to hold down a job.

Hannah admitted that she and her alter ego have more in common than just their first names.

"I'd love to say I'm not like her, but to be honest I am very disorganised!" she said.

"But I couldn't go off for months on end like she does because I love being at home."

The actress was thrilled to get a starring role in a witchy show, as she has always found the subject fascinating.

"My favourite book was the Worst Witch - I loved it. And then obviously there was Harry Potter," she said. "I hate scary things but when magic is involved it doesn't seem as horrible because you know you can just turn things back if you want to."

Hannah revealed that the rhyming spells were one of the trickiest things to recite in the new programme, and told how at one point they taped the words on to co-star Phoebe Fox's forehead to help them remember.

"The first few spells we really knew by heart but the later ones were really quite awful," she said.

:: Switch, which also stars Lacey Turner and Nina Toussaint-White, begins on ITV2 on October 16.
