Firefighters have tackled a blaze that engulfed a restaurant and a number of flats in Greater London.

Sixteen people escaped the three-storey building in St James Way, Sidcup, Kent, before fire crews arrived. All had been accounted for, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

The fire has now been contained and is under control, LFB said, and there are no reports of any injuries.

An LFB spokeswoman said the ground floor of the building had been "100% alight", while the first floor was described as "50% alight".

The building is believed to include a restaurant on the ground floor with a number of flats on two floors above it.

Eight fire engines were at the scene, using three jets to tackle the blaze, and firefighters were using thermal imaging cameras, LFB said.
