Nine addresses were raided by police investigating the alleged grooming and raping of a girl
Eight men suspected of grooming and raping a girl under the age of 16 have been arrested in a series of dawn raids.
The group, including five men aged 23, two aged 24 and one 21-year-old, were held after officers swooped at around 5am on Wednesday and police have urged any more potential victims to come forward.
In total, nine addresses in Newham, Redbridge and Havering in east London and one in Hertfordshire were raided.
Detectives are investigating claims that the girl fell prey to "exploitative" behaviour between May and November last year, when she was allegedly groomed and raped.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Lowe said: "These arrests are part of an investigation into rape and serious sexual assault carried out by a group of men in Newham and the wider east London area. Our inquiries continue.
