BGT show goes on for dancer, 79

Salisbury Journal: Paddy has been given the all-clear to perform in Britain's Got Talent with her partner Nico Paddy has been given the all-clear to perform in Britain's Got Talent with her partner Nico

The show will go on for Britain's Got Talent hopeful Paddy and her partner Nico after the 79-year-old salsa dancer was given the all clear by her doctor.

Sarah "Paddy" Jones, and her Spanish partner Nicolas Espinosa, had been forced to withdraw from tomorrow's live semi-final after she injured her ribs during rehearsals.

But tonight Ms Jones revealed that she is feeling better and will be able to take to the stage to pursue her dream of getting into the show's finale after all.

She said: "I hurt my rib almost two weeks ago whilst rehearsing my routine with Nico.

"After resting, since then over the last few days I have been feeling much better and today I spoke to Britain's Got Talent and told them that I felt I would be fit enough to dance.

"After seeing a top doctor in London this afternoon I have been given the all clear to perform on tomorrow night's show and this is something I very much want to do."

Judge Amanda Holden, who chose the pair as her Golden Buzzer act, had said she was " devastated" the dancing duo would not be able to continue to compete and thought they could be in with a chance of winning the competition.

She previously told Britain's Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern: "Obviously, the most important thing is that she makes a recovery. I think she's done something to her rib. I'm gutted because I actually think she would have won Britain's Got Talent 2014."

"Ever since I first saw Paddy dance I fell in love with her. I was so looking forward to her and Nico wowing us with another amazing routine in the semi-finals."

The pair impressed all four judges - Holden, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams - with their exuberant moves when they appeared in the first episode of the series.

They faced controversy following their successful audition as it emerged they previously won a Spanish talent competition, although Cowell defended their right to compete in Britain's Got Talent.

A spokesman for the ITV1 show said: "We can confirm that after Paddy spoke to us about feeling fit enough to perform, and following further medical advice and tests from a top London specialist, who has advised that she is able to dance, she will be performing in tomorrow night's show.

"Alongside her dance partner Nico she will be performing a modified version of the routine they had originally planned."

The last live semi-final takes place on ITV1 on Saturday, with the final on June 7.
