A mother and her boyfriend will stand trial today over their alleged involvement in the death of a two-year-old girl and the abuse of two other children.
Toddler Amina Agboola died last November after arriving at Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.
Her mother Sarah Raqueman, 28, of Scott Drive, Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, is accused of causing or allowing her death and two counts of neglect against two other children, who cannot be named for legal reasons. She denies the charges.
Raqueman's boyfriend Dean Harris, 19, also of Scott Drive, Yaxley, was charged with murder soon after Amina's death. He has also pleaded not guilty.
The couple were arrested after taking the girl to hospital themselves.
A post-mortem examination found she died from a blunt force injury which ruptured her liver.
Speaking soon after Amina's death, her father Reuben Agboola said: "I want to thank everyone for the continuing love, prayer and support for my little princess.
"I am extremely grateful and proud to have her as my child, I believe she is now at a better place."
