Broncos duo sign for Wigan
Super League champions Wigan have announced the signing of London Broncos duo Dan Sarginson and Tony Clubb.
The 20-year-old Sarginson, a centre who was born in Perth, Western Australia, but discovered rugby league in Hemel Hempstead, was out of contract with the Broncos and has signed a two-year deal with the Warriors, with an option for 2016.
Wigan have paid an undisclosed transfer fee for utility forward Clubb, who was under contract with the Londoners for 2014 and in June was appointed as their new captain following the departure of Craig Gower but sought a move after becoming disillusioned with life at the club.
The 26-year-old, who played for England in the 2010 Four Nations Series, has agreed a four-year deal.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank London for everything they have done for me," the Gravesend-born Clubb said.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with them and I have made many great friends.
"This though is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier. I just can't wait to get started."
Sarginson, who is in the England Knights team to play Samoa at Salford on Saturday, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition.
"I am really looking forward to this new challenge in my career. I have had a great time with London and I would like to thank everyone who has played a part in helping me to progress and improve me as a player. "
Sarginson and Clubb will join fellow recruits Matt Bowen (North Queensland), Eddy Pettybourne (Wests Tigers) and Sam Hopkins (Leigh) at a new-look Wigan, who have had to find replacements for Sam Tomkins, Lee Mossop, Chris Tuson, Paul Prescott and Pat Richards.
Wigan coach Shaun Wane said: "Dan is a young player with lots of potential. He has been playing consistently well in the Broncos team and we know he has the attributes to settle quickly into the Wigan Way.
"Tony meanwhile is everything I want in a forward - powerful and dynamic.
"He is hungry for success and possesses great leadership qualities which I am keen to tap in to.
"I am looking forward to working with both of them, they are great acquisitions to our squad."
The loss of Clubb and Sarginson takes the number of end-of-season departures from the troubled Broncos to 14, with the club yet to announce any new signings or even confirm their presence in Super League for 2014.
