• THE radiology team consists of consultant radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, assistant practitioners, radiology department assistants, nurses and clerical staff.
  • THERE are two types of radiography: diagnostic, which uses imaging technology to diagnose disease and injury and therapeutic, which treats and cares for people with cancer.
  • A CONSULTANT radiologist is a doctor who is specially trained to interpret diagnostic images such as X-rays, Ultrasound, MRI and CT scans
  • A RADIOGRAPHER is a person who has been trained to take your diagnostic images such as X-ray, MRI or CT . If a radiographer has been trained to perform an ultrasound, they may be called a sonographer. Many radiographers now continue their training to post graduate and masters level in order to specialise in one of the imaging modalities or extend their role to take on some of the work done by a radiologist.
