MAY I express my personal thanks to all members of Shrewton village involved in the return of funds lost to those who were involved in the theft of their thrift club money before Christmas.

I would also like to thank the Journal for its support during the period of the Shrewton Saves Christmas campaign.

Shrewton Charitable Trust bank account was a newly opened account and at the meeting of the trustees it was agreed donations should be credited to this account.

PayPal was in operation within two hours and receiving donations at the rate of 7p per second.

There was no question the target would be met, and this was achieved in a very short space of time with bids from all over the world.

It would be impossible to thank everyone involved, but this magnificent effort would not been achieved without the dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of all the members of the emergency team.

I extend my good wishes for the new year to the villagers and all those who helped to make Christmas 2012 truly memorable.
