I HAD to visit the household recycling centre recently and was shocked to see so many trade vans getting rid of commercial waste.
Why do the council allow vans in, as other councils such as Dorset and Hampshire don’t, and save thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money by not letting trade waste into their sites?
Or why don’t they bring the Salisbury centre in line with our other sites, opening to 5pm in the winter?
This may stop the traders coming in, and won’t closing earlier save the council money in staffing etc as they stopped the late nights at other sites last year and saved money?
We now have bins for most recycling on our doorsteps, so why open later?
