We will fight plans fiercely
12:36pm Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in Salisbury Letters
YOUR article of September 26 says that “People turned out in force...”.
But due to ZeroC having failed to leaflet all the residents concerned with details of the meeting on Old Sarum Airfield, there were, when I counted at noon, only about 50 people in the room.
Given the number of consultants and others, the number of residents there was alarmingly low.
A patronising and divisive exercise which did nothing to allay the worries and concerns of the Ford residents currently besieged by new development, the presentation appeared to be focused on raising money for the airfield and the beneficiaries of the trust that owns it.
Building houses near a shooting range and (by the management’s own admission) an airfield which is to see increased activity and air shows is probably going to lead to an unsustainable outcome.
On a more factual note the infrastructure and facilities required are clearly not either available or realistically accessible.
The plans of these individuals who wish to jump on the current development frenzy will be resisted vigorously even though they had a member of Wiltshire Council sitting on the presentation panel.
MARK UFFINDELL, Ford
