IT’S that time of year again, when most of us look forward to a few days of joy and happiness despite the stress that the modern world causes, as we prepare for these few extra special days.

It was my intention to write expressing my disappointment with many of the things that have happened to our still beautiful city over the last 12 months.

But no, this is the time of year to reflect on the sadness in our city, our country and the world.

A time when we should all remember and pray for those who are suffering due to hunger, war, injury, sickness, loss of loved ones and any one of the many misfortunes that befall people in this modern world.

So, as you go about your stressful Christmas preparation, remember to not only look forward to joyous Christmas days, but to keep in your heart and mind a prayer for those who really suffer, not just at Christmas but throughout the year.

Finally, may I wish one and all a very merry and Christian Christmas.
