Looking for pictures of Laverstock panda

First published in Salisbury Letters

ARE there any readers who have any photos of the Laverstock Panda that they would not mind sharing with me?

It was a chalk figure carved into the Laverstock Downs, created January 1969 by students. I can scan them and return them to you.

I am the online parish clerk for Laverstock and would like to publish them on our website. We are all volunteers and are making local information and images available on the website for free to people all around the world.

Has anyone ever considered brining it back?

If you do find any pictures, please do share them. They will bring back memories of school days in the 70s and 80s.

Good luck with your hunt.

I managed to contact a member of the group who created the panda, some time ago. he told me the story. fantastic outcome and very planned operation...but not originally for Laverstock Down!

(Fovant Badges should have gained one more)

I would love to see it again, as would many of us in Laverstock - you could see it from all over our parish. the owner, says no, to protect his father's thoughts on the panda. A great pity - it featured in a book called the chalk figures of Wiltshire. Copy in the library.

Bring back our Panda!
