Many of us within our community were saddened to read in the Journal what we considered to be a highly unkind and unfair criticism of the play Gaslight currently being performed at the Playhouse.

Gaslight is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a classic.

But this production brings out its old-fashioned virtues and uses a melodramatic form to suggest rapacious greed leads to madness, and dark demons lurked beneath the Victorian antimacassar.
