I UNDERSAND the concerns about grass cutting in Salisbury and I have been writing to Wiltshire Council and councillors about this as Bishopdown Farm and London Road were looking terrible.

I notice now that an attempt has been made to remedy the situation in London Road.

But Balfour Beatty, which has this £24m contract, is letting all taxpayers down.

I have just come back from Dartford and as one drives down the A343 from the A303 and travels through Hampshire all the verges have been cut.

As soon as we pass the sign “Wiltshire welcomes you” there is no sign of the grass on the verges being cut.

And this must be the case on all roads.

Balfour Beatty has a huge task to catch up, but unless they do so their contract should be terminated.

I HAVE noticed the grass cutting on the Bemerton Heath estate – they cut the grass last week and may I say what a mess.

Is it too much trouble for them to rake the grass cuttings off after they have cut it?

It is a disgrace – tufts of grass left all stuck up, edges not cut and where there is a pavement edge the grass has not been trimmed at all.

If you can’t do the job right, don’t do it at all.

There is no tidiness with the council but they can’t blame the tools, it’s a human doing the work.
