WHAT a farce it all is.

Yes, we all want motorists to drive through our streets at a reasonable speed, but there will always be the difficulty in deciding what speed is reasonable. Few would resent an emergency vehicle belting through when circumstances dictate.

Plastering 20mph limits everywhere is not an answer, even though well meaning folk might disagree.

If people do not respect the current limits, it gives no confidence that they will respect a lower limit.

You only need to spend a few minutes walking through the central car park to witness most motorists' and bikers' utter contempt for both the 10mph limit and towards any pedestrians using the shared space (even over designated footpaths) to be aware of the sheer absurdity of such proposals.
