PLEASE allow me this opportunity to thank all those involved on June 15 in the Salisbury Sudan Medical Link Fete held in the Bishop’s garden in Salisbury Cathedral Close.

The sun shone and Lady Chichester’s two camels, Therese and Temujin, walked around the Close to advertise the event. The crowds came to enjoy a sunny afternoon of entertainment and the chance to buy from many well stocked stalls of books, bric-a-brac, plants, cakes and preserves, and to watch the many sideshows including Tinetto the clown, listen to the Amesbury band and the Leaden Hall School choir and have tea and cakes, ice cream and strawberries by the river .

Thank you to all those who worked so hard beforehand to prepare and who ran stalls or helped on the day, to those who sponsored our big raffle, those who sold and bought tickets , the musicians, and those who came and spent their money.

The amazing total of more than £8,500 raised will be used to purchase medicines to treat children with malaria and to support the training of midwives to combat the maternal and infant mortality in South Sudan.
