I AM writing on behalf of the independent businesses of Salisbury to say a big thank you to all those who supported Salisbury's third Independents' Week.
This year, thanks to The Salisbury BID, we were able to involve more businesses and to advertise nearly 50 offers, promotions and competitions that ran during the week.
In Salisbury our indies are spread out from Endless Street and Winchester Street to Castle Street, Fisherton Street and High Street, and it was great to see blue and white balloons across the city.
Our privately-run businesses rely on local support and indies week was a way of showing our gratitude for this support as well as trying to spread the word that there are more than 100 independents in Salisbury who strive to make our city different to any other.
Now that it is over for another year, please do continue to seek us out.
Browse around the shops, have a coffee at an indie café, or chat to the business owners.
Local independent businesses contribute more to the local economy and community.
Wages and profits are spent locally, local tradesmen are employed and indies are more likely to source and support local suppliers.
It's a social experience when you shop in an indie, not a soulless one, and independent businesses are loyal supporters of local charities and events so it works both ways.
We look forward to trying to reach 100 local businesses next year. Keep up with the latest news at facebook.com/ salisburyindependentsweek.
