Alternative ways to consider budget cut

First published in Salisbury Letters

NNIE Riddle is usually complaining about decisions affecting us in the south of the county being made “remotely” in Trowbridge.

However, in a sudden about-turn, she now complains that decisions about youth services are to be made locally by our area boards.

She can’t have it both ways.

Does she support local decision-making or not? If so, why can’t she bring herself to applaud Wiltshire Council’s brave move to devolve decisions on youth activities – and accompanying budgets – to locally-elected councillors?

Unfortunately there is nothing brave about any decision made by Wiltshire Council. It only ever makes decisions to suit itself or if it can pat itself on the back for saving a few pence at the expense of others!
