We just wanted to say a massive "thank you" to all the people who came in their thousands to our Sunday Funday event at Durrington Rec on Sunday, August 24.

We had an amazing, fun-filled afternoon with the weather on our side and on the day made over £2600 which will be donated to our chosen charities.

Special thanks to Disco Dion for keeping the kids entertained, Sarum Stars cheerleading squad, Durrington FC and the amazing Casa De Samba for their performances in the arena. Also thanks to Complete Party for the inflatables and bar, Chris from Quality Catering for the burgers, Fred the Hog for his delicious hog roast, Dominic for his ice creams, Ellen and Dawn for making the perfect cuppa, Lisa for letting us use Harvey and the stallholders and car-booters for coming.

We also must not forget our sponsors Steele Signs, the Stonehenge Trader and all the businesses that donated the amazing raffle prizes.

Thanks to all the Sunday Funday Team – we think 2014 was our biggest and best so far and we are already looking forward to next year’s event! Thanks once again to everyone who supports us.

I write on behalf of our charity to express our sincere thanks to all those who dropped their green Waitrose token in our collection bin at the store in June.

The generous sum raised will go a long way in helping our community car scheme provide essential transport. For many of our members, it's our car scheme that enables them to get out of the house and participate in the sorts of things the rest of us take for granted. For example, attending medical appointments, going shopping or visiting friends.

It is thanks to contributions like this and the efforts of our drivers that we have been able to provide well in excess of 10,000 passenger journeys in the last year. It's really heartening that through Waitrose's scheme so many people have backed us in what we do. Our service also needs volunteer car drivers. We'd love to hear from anyone who'd like to discuss volunteering for us. If you like driving, enjoy meeting people and can spare a few hours a week in your own car then volunteering for us could make a rewarding difference to you. And it will help us to make a difference to more people with mobility issues in and around Salisbury.

The long awaited Uplands School Reunion took place recently at a local hotel and restaurant and was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended.

May I, through your columns, express my sincere thanks to all former pupils and staff of the school for making the occasion so memorable.

May I express my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care given to me on Pembroke Ward at the Salisbury District Hospital recently.

The staff were wonderful and spared no trouble to ensure my comfort and wellbeing – those nurses deserve gold medals.
